  • Consumer Question: Are your services free and/or do I need to have insurance?

Answer: Yes, our services are free, and insurance may be required for some of our programs which are funded directly by CalOptima. If you do not have CalOptima, we can still provide information and resources to help.

  • Consumer Question: Do you still have offices in Garden Grove or South County?

Answer: Our only office is at 501 N. Brookhurst Street, Suite #102, Anaheim,

CA 92801. We are also able to meet with individuals in the community in a variety of settings throughout Orange County depending on the service area and individual need.

  • Consumer Question: Why do I need an appointment for services?

Answer: As Orange County’s only Center for Independent Living, our services are in high demand and the team member who can best assist you may not be available if you walk-in without an appointment. While we can still provide general information and resources, we cannot guarantee someone will be available to meet with you or schedule an appointment on the spot, as our team of staff manage their own calendars. To ensure you receive the right support, we strongly recommend calling ahead or submitting a referral form.

  • Consumer Question: Will DMC complete everything for me or manage my services for me?

Answer: DMC follows the Independent Living (IL) philosophy, which means we work with you, not for you. We empower people with disabilities, older adults, and Veterans to set their own goals and take active steps toward independence, with guidance, education, and support from our team rather than doing everything on their behalf.

  • Consumer Question: Are services at DMC confidential, and are there times when reports must be made?

Answer: DMC respects your privacy and keeps your information confidential whenever possible. However, as a mandated reporter, DMC is required by law to report certain situations, such as suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation, to the appropriate authorities to help ensure safety.
